VONJAKO
“Andrea Jako Giacomini” aka “VONJAKO” Is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer based in Los Angeles, CA.
Originally hailing from Ascoli Piceno, Italy, he moved to the United States to pursue a career in music.
After he moved to LA to play in various bands, he also continued to pursue his childhood passion for photography.
An editor at the LA Times took note of photograph he took and gave him one assignment which led to a highly coveted full-time position as the Cal State Los Angeles University newspaper photojournalist.
VONJAKO is also a filmmaker.
He has directed and created music videos for various indie and mainstream pop artists including: Eric Benet, Fatboy Slim, Gnarls Barkley, Rx Bandits, Waxploitation’s Teargas & Plateglass, and Socadia. These videos have been showcased at SXSW, AFI Fest, Cannes Shorts Festival, and the Los Angeles Film Festival.
He also has created commercials and brand content for companies with global recognition, including: Levi’ s,Honda, Yamaha, Lincoln, Nissan, Fiat/Chrysler, Converse, and Doritos.
His short film, “More than Words”a creative hybrid of art and film, was a winner of the AFI & Levi’s competition and In 2014 received the “FutureCity Yokohama Award ”for Best Short Film at the Short Shorts Film Festival in Tokyo. In 2016 while documenting and photographing Street art around the city of Los Angeles, He started the Instagram photography project called “The Art of Shade”
